3 stars for SERVICE ONLY! Too expensive for the quality. I love that you can choose from an array of toppings. The fries were great but too many. The burger was on par with Culver's and Wendy's. For me the only thing worth going back for was the drink selection. I was really ready to be wowed by this place but since I have been to Kumas Korner quite a few times I am spoiled. If I want a quick meal it will be Wendy's if I want a BURGER and I mean BURGER it'll be Kumas! Service was great though, quick friendly no mistakes.

Some people have found Five Guys to be expensive and overrated, but I think the cost vs. product quality is justified. The ingredients are fresh, the meat patties are juicy, and you can get whatever toppings you want FO' FREE! Point in case, I asked them to replace the grilled mushrooms & onions on my LBC (little bacon cheeseburger) with jalapenos & hot sauce and they happily obliged. I call that the 'El Diablo'-style. And this location on North Ave? The best I've ever been to. It's the best because: + employees have been pleasant and helpful on every visit, not to mention fun! They (seem to) genuinely care that customers enjoy their burgers and fries. + dueling Coke freestyle machines means no waiting ++ Gold Peak tea dispenser (uncommon) that's--wait for it--totally handicap accessible. Even in 2014, very few places nowadays have something that caters to disabled individuals, but this Five Guys is way ahead of the curve. For those reasons and more, I stand by my previous decision. Melrose Park's 5 Guys gets 5 stars, no question.

Overpriced, underserviced. When I arrived, there was only one customer ahead of me and only one person working the counter. The person ahead had ordered one double burger. I placed my order and as soon as I walked over to the waiting counter about 10 people walked in. The worker started taking the orders for the people that came in after me. I was wating along with the first customer. After about five minutes, I could tell the first customer was concerned about his bread and meat getting over toasted/overcooked as they had been sitting on the plate all this time. A few minutes later two more workers came from the back and stated helping. In total I had to wait 18 minutes. They prepared one burger and then had to wait a few more minutes for one cheeseburger. The worker must have noticed in my expression that I was not very happy and he tried to apologize telling me that there was an issue in the back that he had to attend to and that was the reason for the delay. I guess the issue was big enough that two people had to attend to it. By the time he took the bread from the plate, one side was too burned and he had to discard it. I told him that by the time I get home, the first burger will be cold after waiting for the second one. He tried to tell me he could redo the first one. I was already dissapointed enough with the lack of service and wanted to get out of the place. In summary, the burgers are just ok but overpriced for the quality. The service and lack of proper process to manage the flow of customers is unnaceptable. I do not recommend this place and I will not return.

Over priced my hamburger was not cooked enough and got my order wrong had to drive 15 minutes back and then the other food we had (fries and another burger) were cold. On top of it never offered us and type of compensation. Would not have taken it but it would of been nice to have been offered. The girl looked at me like I was putting her out when I handed her the wrong food gave me a look and said we don't want that and I said neither do I. And left it sitting there so did she. She was rude and ignorant. I wanted to post 0 stars, but would not let me stars -10

5 guys is a pretty solid place and this place is no exception. Plenty of seating in a convenient location. The big downsides are the limited parking and sketchball Melrose Park factor.

Unfortunetly I cannot give this place zero stars. First off, Five Guys is great. I've had it in the city (Chicago) and in Miami and never any issues. This particular location on the other hand is a DUMP. I felt like I was surrounded by trash. Peanuts everywhere. Filthy tables. Overflowing trash bin. Employee was on her cell phone. Which is maybe why my food (one burger and fries) took about 20 minutes. Never returning to this location. Ever. I dined in on March 2nd.

Five Guys? Sounds like a sausage fest. So I walk in and there's giant sacks everywhere. Potatoes. They decorate the dining area with 50 LB sacks of potatoes. This place is extremely full of itself. "Oh look at us, we're going to use these to make our 'hand cut' fries. And while you wait, read all the enlarged newspaper clippings of positive reviews to our business that we jazzed our walls up with from corner to corner." Bunch of self-absorbed windbags. Get off my nuts. I'm talking about the free peanuts while you wait. Anyway, I liked this place better when it was called Wendy's. Seriously. If you blindfolded me and gave me a Five Guys burger, I would have immediately guess Wendy's double cheeseburger. The kicker is at Wendy's it's only $2.99. Here, $6.25. I paid just over $10 for a burger and regular Cajun fries (no drink). Somewhat of a mugging, if you ask me. The food tasted fine, but hardly compelling enough to come back. If I'm going pay over $10 for a fast food burger, I'll hit up Portillo's for an even bigger burger and more taste.

This is Wendys Dollar menu food for $7. Suckers eat here. Never again will I come to this place and fork out $10 for a burger and fries that I could have gotten for $2 and it be the same quality and flavor. If you want something worth your money, this is NOT the place. There are MANY other burger places that give you your moneys worth.

Just came in to check em out.Hadn't really heard anything good or bad that stuck out in my mind.Glad I came in.Honestly, food was mediocre. It wasn't bad.Pretty ordinary if you ask me.I wasn't even going to write a review till I ordered my food and the cashier quoted me $12.78 for a cheeseburger, fries and a pop.I was like,"Whaaaa???" I didnt say anything cause Id figure I would eat my food and then decide if it was worth it or not.Ive been to Kumas Corner and paid over $20 for a burger, fries and a beer.BUT THAT'S WORTH IT!!!! This here WAS NOT.Especially with Wendy's right across the street.Wendy's is a little better PLUS $5 bucks cheaper!!!

The Five Guys cheeseburger is fantastic and I love all the veggies on the burger. The food at Five Guy's is well worth the money. All the veggies were super fresh. I can't wait to go back again. My only issue was that there weren't enough onions on my cheeseburger.

I decided to grab a burger while I waited for a movie. It's been about a year and a half since I've been to Five Guys. Last time I was at the one in Oak Park (you know the one that has all the pictures of articles saying how they're the best burger in Chicago.) After trying the burgers there I can safely say they weren't. This place has the same setup minus the slew of self-indulgent articles and the number of customers. What's unique about Five Guys is that they have all you can eat peanuts which you can just walk up and grab a bowl full anytime you want. It seems nice until you realize it's pretty much just to offset the price of the burgers which are about $7 for a pretty small burger and don't come with drinks or even fries. The place had a table full of customers and was spotless. I snacked on peanuts while I waited for my double bacon cheeseburger which were surprisingly great (even the peanuts at the one in Oak Park were pretty stale and they had no bowls.) The wait was about 10 minutes and I got my burger in time to make it to my movie. I took a few bites while I was at the car and it was freaking fantastic! While it was messy, everything blended together nicely, tasted fresh, and the cheese was Grade-A cheddar! The fries were great as well. Even after reheating things at home it still was the best burger & fries I've had in awhile. Overall the Five Guys in Melrose Park is definitely worth trying out. They use high quality, fresh ingredients and their burgers are cooked to perfection. They lose 1 star for their high prices ($14 for a burger, fries, and small drink at a fast food joint?), and messy thrown together food (fries were all over bag and burger was sloppily prepared including pickles not on it, but stuck to the side of the burger somehow.) They should at least give you a small bag in-case you want to take some peanuts home for these prices. However, if you want a way better deal you've got Mcdonalds, Wendy's, Burger King, White Castle ALL WITHIN BLOCKS OF THIS PLACE. Honestly, for the same price I could've gotten a crave case (30 burgers) from White Castle. Which explains why there were almost zero customers the entire time I was there.

It's fast food. Seriuosly, burgers are decent, fries are yummy. The staff is pretty nice and attentive. I was kind of upset that there was mayo on my burger when all I wanted was hot peppers and mushrooms and must. but it's ok, I quickly remembered why I don't eat mayo, cause it's too freaking tasty!

The burgers here are superb! Definitely top quality. If you are going with another person or a group, I'd suggest getting one order of fries to share. They do give a very generous portion but it felt impossible to finish an order by myself! My first time there I was confused as to why they had so many boxes of peanuts but the guy at the register let me know they were free. Ok! Not complaining here, free nuts! Lol. I ate them while I waited for my food. It is pricier than other burger joints but worth it

Very disappointing. Realistically if you really want to pay $12 for a burger, fries and drink - go to a steakhouse. I should have gone to CostCo for lunch. Would have been more satisfied. Yes, burgers are FRIED to order, not grilled. Very greasy. Wendy's across the street would be cheaper and better tasting. Honestly, the other reviews that also state that are right on the money. Fries are handcut. VERY SALTY!!!! Also not cooked through. But they do give you a generous portion of them. None of the tables/counters were clean. It was NOT busy at all!!! I was one of 3 customers in there and was the only one for quite some time. VERY OVERRATED! You walk in and the first thing you see is an open box of peanuts that anyone can reach into, spit into, or whatever. And these are "for your snacking/dining pleasure!" Next is the bags of potatoes and boxes of oil used for the fryers. Then the walls are all nothing but advertisements and reviews....OF THEM. I get having a couple, but the entire place???? Employees were helpful and friendly.

I would give them 2.5 stars if I could because i paid almost $11 for my meal! The workers were friendly, burger is delicious, the fries are not "all that" and the drink is waaayyy overpriced! $2.51 for a small Coke?! I would definitely come back, but ONLY for the burger. They claim that the burger toppings are free, but you're paying the difference with the overpriced fries and drink!

Best fries I have ever had the pleasure....nay, honor of eating. I don't know what they put in their cajun fries, but it is amazing!

I LOVED this place!! So...why only three pitiful stars?? I had high hopes that the menu would include a veggie burger..alas..it was not to be. I loved my veggie and cheese sandwich, but, had my chops all set for a veggie burger. Oh,well, MAYBE...they will add one(not so subtle hint, here,Five Guys!!) The fresh cut fries were delicious, and made even more so by the splash of malt vinegar on them....yummmm! Do NOT get me started on the super duper fancy soda machine..HOLY SMOKES...how the HECK are you supposed to choose?? You can create your very own custom drink, with over 125 possible combinations!! My hubby said his cheese burger was one of the best he has had in a long time,so we will be back. If you add a veggie burger to the menu, I would make me ever so happy...Thanks!

I didn't think I would, but I gave it another chance. I called ahead and spoke to the manager about my previous disappointing experience. I placed a new order and he very nicely comped it. When I picked it up, I received a pleasant greeting from the crew. Tasted great. I'm a fan :)
